Author Guidelines

The Res Pvblika: Political Science Journal is currently accepting submissions. Authors are encouraged to submit original research, book reviews or essays found in the discipline of Political Science. After thorough perusal of the content herein, aspiring contributors may e-mail their submissions to respvblika.polsci@gmail.com

Submission Guide

Authors are asked to observe the following guidelines:

  1. 1.  The manuscript must be submitted to a Word File Format (docx.) in Times New Roman, Font size 12
  2. 2.  Article must be accompanied with the following:
      • 2.1 An abstract of 200-300 words
      • 2.2 Five key words
  3. 3.  Following the provided formatting, article length should be 20-30 pages double-spaced, not including the bibliography. Although, slight excesses/deficits are permitted. This typically encompasses 7,000-10,000 words.
  4. 4.  Research articles, policy reviews, book reviews, and case studies are welcome.

  5. 5.  The University of Chicago Manual of Style, 16th Edition should provide for citations and references

 

Ethical Considerations

The Res Pvblika: Political Science Journal is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards. All submissions are expected but not limited to adhere to the following principles

 

  1. A.  Ethics of Respect:All authors, contributors, and participants must be treated with dignity, fostering an environment of trust and collaboration.
  2. B.  Consent: RPSJ ensures that all authors consent to having their work published; clear communication will always precede any publication or data gathering
  3. C.  Authorship: The original authors will always retain credit for their work. In no manner will the RPSJ Editorial Board claim authorship of any of its articles.
  4. D.  Conflict of Interest:Any potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed and communicated properly between the author in question and the Editorial Board
  5. E.  Research Integrity: RPSJ maintains the integrity of all work published, ensuring all content has been thoroughly reviewed and vetted for quality and accuracy.
  6. F.  Internal Confidentiality:The confidentiality of the paper trail and subsequent unpublished material will be strictly maintained.

 

Complaints and Appeals

 

In the matters of complaints regarding one’s published work, the complainant shall have full prerogative in addressing their concerns through the provided e-mail who shall thoroughly process and consult with the person of interest via the author’s preferred modality.

 

After careful deliberation, post-publication edits shall be accompanied with flags on the article’s respective page (alongside date of original publication and edit) detailing the extent of changes. Thus, they shall be labelled as:

 

Slight corrections which shall be applied shortly after notice, and only encompass minor grammatical, spelling and citation errors

 

Major corrections which entails substantive changes that a slight correction will not rectify. The accompanying notice shall detail the exact changes alongside an ‘Editor’s Note’ linking RPSJ’s readers to the full notice.

 

Notice of Retraction which will be implemented only in rare circumstances, and shall typically be the result of an unaccounted issue of ethics and breaches in intellectual property. It shall henceforth be omitted from any of RPSJ’s database and consequently bear a notice of retraction detailing the rationale for removal.

 

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the SubmissionGuidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

About

The first student-led online journal of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), the Res Pvblika: Political Science Journal (RPSJ) is a platform for undergraduate students, alumni and faculty of San Beda University to engage in academic discourse in the field of political science, share their research, and contribute to the academe.

RPSJ is an open-access journal, free of charge to all of its viewers. Neither shall there be any submission fee nor processing fee for its aspiring authors.

The regular isue is published once a year, with the journal accepting submissions year-round. Interested alumni and faculty of SBU’s Political Science Department may send their manuscripts to respvblika.polsci@gmail.com. A detailed submission guide is provided under the ‘About’ tab accompanied with a guarantee of research ethics. As such, he is also expected to adhere to all ethical standards.

The articles to be published will be subject to review by both the Department of Political Science faculty and the RPSJ Editorial Board in order to ensure that integrity and academic excellence is upheld in every article.
